Chocolate Fayre Weekend Customer Service Roles – What Is The Job?
We are looking for a two friendly and enthusiastic young people to join the customer service team at Chocolate Fayre, Barnard Castle.
- Hours: Part time (1 x 8 hr days at weekends, currently 09:30-17:300, additional hours may be available during school holidays)
- Renumeration: £8.00/hr (16-17 year olds) plus 30 minute paid lunchbreak every day, in-store discounts, personal development and training opportunities
- Starting Date: As soon as possible/as soon as available
It’s a job which involves some of the skills of a food retail job, a front of house café job. Full training will be provided from day 1, building skills and knowledge over time
The role involves:
- Serving customers with a friendly and positive attitude at all times
- Writing down drinks orders accurately and advising customers about products
- Making coffees, hot chocolates, teas and other drinks for customers
- Taking drinks and cake orders to customers tables both inside the Coffee Lounge and outside in our Secret Garden
- Clearing tables and maintaining a clean and tidy public areas
- Assisting customers through helping them select and pack boxes of chocolate for them on the shop counter.
- Assisting customers with their enquiries both face to face and over the phone
- Taking customer payments (cash & cards)
- Following and learning in-house instructions and packing chocolate and confectionary products accurately and attractively ready for sale.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy workplace to the expected standards, including start of day shop opening setup, and end of day clean down procedures
- Being on your feet 8 hours a day, every day, and still be able to smile and operate effectively!
The ideal candidate should:
- Be at least 16 years old. Due to restrictions in employment law, this is not negotiable
- Be available to work Saturdays AND Sundays (you will be expected to work most weekends on one or other day, but not both during term time) and be able to get to Chocolate Fayre on both days in time to begin work at 9:30am on either day.
- Be available to work during the majority school holidays
- Be enthusiastic and positive in their attitude to work
- Be polite and friendly, and able to get along with anyone
- Be reliable and trustworthy
- Have excellent attention to details
- Be able to learn quickly, work accurately and follow both written and verbal instructions well
- Be a team player, but also be able to carry out independent tasks on their own
- Be able to operate well under pressure in a very busy work environment
- Be flexible and be able to juggle and prioritise different tasks at the same time while remaining calm and effective
- Be confident in dealing with customers and the general public, and have excellent customer service skills and experience
- Love chocolate and ice cream!
