Hot Weather Plan for Chocolate Deliveries

With the heatwaves so far this summer, we have been checking the weather forecast daily in order to put in place our hot weather plans. You see the one thing that chocolate really doesn’t like is hot weather (Well, two things: hot weather and humidity, if we’re being honest!), and nobody likes to receive a box of melted chocolates as a gift! When there are higher than average temperatures anywhere in the UK, we check every single order and decide whether or not it is safe to send it in the post.

  • First thing we do is check the contents. If it is for tea, coffee, fudge, Turkish Delight, or anything else non-chocolate, then we can usually send it as requested.
  • If, however, an order contains chocolate, we look to see if anywhere along the delivery route will hit about 24C or 25C or more for a prolonged period (more than a couple of hours), and/or if the area has had a day or more of hot weather already, which has built up a bed of heat. When this happens, we look to see if we can dispatch by 1st class (at our expense) and get the order out and delivered before the predicted hot spell happens.
  • If this isn’t going to be the case, we will contact the customer and give them the option of either delaying delivery until the weather has cooled down a bit, or offer a full refund without anything being dispatched. We will then keep the customer informed as to when their order has been dispatched.

You can help us out a bit, by checking the weather forecast of your order’s destination before you place the order. That way, there will be less chance of any delays or disappointment. We will, of course, continue to check the weather ourselves, and make our own judgement regardless.

As a general rule, we can usually dispatch to Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the North of England, Yorkshire, and the northern parts of the Midlands. Its anything below this that more often experience temperatures which are not chocolate-friendly, particularly London, Kent, Essex, and the South coast.

Hopefully our hot weather plans keep orders flowing, but their chocolate contents safe!

If in doubt, please get in contact with us, and we’ll happily try to advise.
