A nod to our wonderful home town, the Barnard Castle Advent Calendar is new for this year. If you’ve experienced one of our twnety-four chocolate advent calendars in the past, then you’ll already be looking forward to the contents! Concealed behind each door is one of twenty-four different chocolates, each themed through either its Christmas design or festive flavours. From Christmas caramels and praline Christmas trees to boozy treats such as Hot Toddy or Mulled Wine Truffle, the Barnard Castle Advent Calendar contents become more and more festive the closer you get to Christmas. But the big change this year is the fabulous new cover design, featuring a collage of photos of popular architectural highlights of our town, including the iconic remains Barnard Castle itself, the unexpected french styling of the Bowes Museum building, alongside both St Mary’s church and the Methodist church, all centred around the Market Cross (or Buttermarket), and the Chocolate Fayre shop to the side.

This year’s selection of festive chocolate delights includes the Crème Brûlée Crunch Truffle, Salted Caramel Square, Cherry Bakewell with it’s fir tree motifs, the deep red Cherry Gin Truffle, Yule Log with its sugarwork holly sprig and sugar snow dusting, Dark Morello Cherry, Champagne Pearl Truffle, Praline Christmas Tree, Milk Christmas Caramel, Holly Chocolate Mousse, Prosecco Buttercream, Raspberry & Champagne Truffle with it’s red raspberry decoration, White Christmas Caramel, Brussel Sprout Truffle, Mulled Wine Truffle, Port & Cranberry, Swiss Milk Chocolate Star, Reindeer Chocolate Mousse, Praline Penguin, Hot Toddy, Mulled Wine, Dark Raspberry, Christmas Pudding filled with rum and raisin ganache, Almond Creme Pie with its comical reindeer face decoration.
